5 More Ways to Enhance Workplace Security

As always, one of your highest priorities should be workplace security. When you have the full confidence of your employees, guests, clients, and customers, your company will be even more successful than ever before. All of that productivity is crucial, but it can’t surpass peace of mind for helping your business unlock its full potential.

5 More Ways to Enhance Workplace Security
As always, one of your highest priorities should be workplace security. When you have the full confidence of your employees, guests, clients, and customers, your company will be even more successful than ever before.

Secure the Server Room

The next step in securing your company is to help protect the server room. Only those employees with a high-security clearance should be able to access it. This means that all members of the IT team should be able to get in and out. This area is where access control systems can be even more useful. Another way to help secure your server room is to think about where it should be placed inside your facility. The mainframes and servers shouldn’t be placed along walls that are shared with other businesses that neighbor your own.

Add Commercial Safes

After that, install commercial-grade safes throughout your company’s premises. This is where you can secure cash and other monetary assets at the end of the day and keep it safe until it is time to deposit them. Likewise, financial documents can be kept under lock and key even if they are uploaded to external hard drives first. This also means you can keep all of your materials safe from fire and intruders. Ask your company’s insurance carrier for more information about what they recommend you do.

Lock the Workstations

Keeping your computers safe is also critical. Sometimes, adding complex passwords that are changed every month isn’t enough to prevent physical intrusion or abuse of use privileges. For any computers that aren’t being used, this is even more important. Also, any folders of paperwork need to kept safe as well. This means that they should be put in locked filing cabinets or secured lockboxes when they are ready to be shredded once they are no longer needed but still contain sensitive information on them.

Disable External Drives

You will also want to take the time to disable access by external drives. Many business owners do not have the know-how on how to make this happen. This is why the IT department is one of the most valuable parts of your organization. USB ports can be disabled for the time being to prevent unauthorized copying of confidential information.

Secure the Printers

Finally, be sure to secure the printers inside your business. This means that the printers should be kept in a secure location and given strong protections against theft and hacking, so that secret documents are not stolen or exposed through an unforeseen vulnerability.
